• Watercare: A Guided Tour of the Waikato Water Treatment Plant

  • Join us for a free, guided 2-hour tour of the Waikato Water Treatment Plant in Tuakau.

    Discover the fascinating journey of water treatment at our Waikato plant, which provides 20 per cent of Auckland's drinking water.  

    Highlights of the tour:

    • Go on a guided tour with our water technicians to see how we treat and purify water drawn from the Waikato River.
    • Explore our Wonder Wai Discovery Centre.
    • Enjoy a free sausage sizzle and ice cream after completing the tour.

    Where: Waikato Water Treatment Plant - access via 29 Hayward Road, Tuakau

    Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm

    Age limit: All attendees must be aged 8+

    Pets: Our treatment plant is a pet-free zone - please leave your pets at home.

    Transport: Please organise your own transport to the treatment plant. Once through the main gate, park infront of the reception office, go inside and sign-in and wait for your tour to start.

    Tickets: There is no cost for the tours, but you must book a ticket to gain entry on the day.

    What to wear: All attendees need to be covered from wrist to ankle. i.e wear a long sleeved shirt and long trousers. They must also wear safety boots or fully enclosed walking shoes (no dresses, high heels, sandals, jandals or open toed shoes allowed). A high-viz jacket will be issued to each attendee and must be worn at all times.
